William Simmendinger, journeyman lineman with PPL, fixes downed power lines near 1330 Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township Monday.  Around 11:30 a.m., a tree fell and knocked down power lines near 1330 Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township. According to the online PPL Outage Center, there were 10 customers without power in the township at 1:25 p.m.

DRIVER INJURED IN CRASH _ A 54-year-old Cressona man suffered non life-threatening injuries when this tractor-trailer he was drivnig crashed on Route 54 in Rush Township, just east of the Ryan Township line, around 10:30 a.m. Monday. Rush Township Police said Robert Bowers was driving east when he went off the right side of the road and flipped his truck onto its passenger's side. The truck it and severed a utility pole before coming tyo a stop spilling a load of coal. Ryan Township and Mahanoy City firefighters and Ryan Township EMS assisted at the scene, police said, adding that Bowers will be cited as a result of the crash.
